The role  

  • Do you have an interest in natural resource management and are able to bring a Mātauranga Māori perspective to policy development? Then this may be the opportunity you are looking for! This is a permanent full-time position based in Palmerston North. 
  • The Strategy and Policy team is looking for someone to provide strategic and technical advice on Iwi Māori policy related matters to ensure our policy development reflects our Te Tiriti obligations and that iwi and hapū aspirations for natural resource management are met. Proficiency in Te Reo Māori and tikanga is essential. 
  • This role provides a pivotal interface between our Iwi and Hapū Relationships team and our Policy Planning Team. You will also be required to provide credible advice to management and Council. 

About you

We are looking for a team player, a confident communicator able to build strong relationships both with iwi as well as across the organisation. You will require critical and analytical thinking skills and the ability to distil essential information and translate that into technical reports. 

Ideally you will have a tertiary qualification in public policy, planning or related discipline.
