Senior Asset Information Advisor
The role
This permanent, full-time position as Senior Asset Information Advisor, based at Regional House in Palmerston North, offers the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping how river management asset information supports the management of river and drainage infrastructure. Through effective use of asset information, works tracking, financial, and geospatial systems, you will be at the heart of a wider team to support the planning, delivery and reporting of essential river flood protection and drainage activities.
This senior role within the River Management Asset Management team, mentors and supports colleagues, provides technical advice, and leads projects that improve the quality, accessibility and use of asset information. The role acts as a trusted advisor, building strong relationships across the organisation while playing an important part in supporting informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

About you
We are seeking an information professional who combines strong analytical and report writing expertise with the ability to lead projects, mentor others, and influence collaborative decision-making. You'll be someone who enjoys turning data into insights, and helping improve the way asset information for River Flood and Drainage activity supports operational and strategic outcomes enabling effective delivery of the River Flood and Drainage activity.
You may not have previous experience with asset information; however, you might have had a similar role wrangling information in the public sector. You will have a relevant tertiary qualification in natural sciences or information sciences, and at least five years' experience in a related field. As a trusted technical expert, you'll enjoy using data and information to solve problems, write reports, and helping ensure asset information is accurate, accessible and fit for purpose. Experience with information systems, GIS and spatial data technologies will be an advantage, along with your ability to communicate complex information clearly to a general audience and build strong working relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
