The role

Horizons Regional Council is offering a fabulous opportunity to lead and shape our policy work programme which is driven by national policy direction and resource management requirements under the Resource Management Act. 

As Principal Policy Planner you will provide leadership and technical advice to the development of policy that delivers robust solutions and promotes sustainable resource management. 

This permanent full time position, based in Palmerston North, is part of strategy and policy team.

About you

You will be responsible for leading the review of the One Plan and associated plan changes, and navigating through changes in national policy direction and legislative change. 

The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of resource management and policy development under the Resource Management Act, a professional qualification and extensive planning experience. 

As the programme lead, you will also have project management, effective communication and relationship management skills.
