We are seeking a Freshwater Ecologist to work alongside our Freshwater and Projects team to provide freshwater ecology support and advice for Horizons river management and flood protection activity and activity of the broader Catchment Operations Group.
Based at Regional House in Palmerston North or our Kairanga Depot, this full-time permanent position will provide a mix of office and field based work throughout our region including: designing and implementing monitoring programmes, ecological monitoring, statistical analysis and associated reporting and modelling. A tertiary degree in an appropriate natural science discipline or equivalent experience in an appropriate natural science discipline is essential, as is a full driver’s licence. Experience in delivering biological and other freshwater ecology monitoring and reporting, regulatory processes and the application of GIS and/or spatial modelling programmes is highly desirable. However, we are also looking for someone with the ability to work with a wide range of people and is competent with analytical / statistical software and data management systems.
