The role  

We are looking for a confident and experienced person with a can-do-attitude for a key role in our Emergency Management Office based in Palmerston North.

Reporting to the Manager Emergency Management, you will support the Manawatū-Whanganui Civil Defence Emergency Management Group to build resilience by coordinating and supporting the delivery of specific Group Emergency Management Office outputs.

This senior role includes undertaking the responsibilities of Group Welfare Manager across the areas of Readiness, Response, and Recovery, the coordination of the development and ongoing maintenance of plans, strategies, and wider support to the Group Office.

About you 

We are looking for an experienced person in emergency management, community resilience or a related field. With good communication and relationship management skills you’ll engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and communities, including our iwi partners. Operating at a strategic level you will have experience in community engagement, welfare coordination, planning, project management, and demonstrate competent decision-making skills in emergency situations.
